Starting Over Again

HEBREW TESTAMENT: A Time for Everything ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1-13

CHRISTIAN GOSPEL: The Magi ~ Matthew 2:1-12

Last Epiphany Sunday we had a two-part sermon, when I looked at things for this Sunday, I said, “Well, we’ll to a two part sermon again.”  So we need the other scripture passage for the other part of the sermon.  The title I chose for this first part of the sermon is “Starting over again.”  The words some into my mind because they are the title of a song by Dolly Parton about starting over again after a broken relationship.  I’m not sure that is exactly the focus that we need at this point, but when we start a new year the idea of starting over again comes to mind.  We know that we are not actually starting over again.  The calendar is an arbitrary thing.  We have set the days up according to our own convenience, and not all of the world was celebrating the turn of the year two-thousand.  There are other calendars in use around the world and our particular
