The Seattle/King County Coalition for the Homeless estimates
that on any given night there are 8,000 people who are homeless in
King County alone. This number is even more alarming because
there are only 2,500 shelter beds available in the county. In 2004, at least 28 homeless people died on
the streets of King County.
